Trophy Club TX: Golf-Course Living in Northwest ISD

by Dani Hampton

Trophy Club holds a unique place in DFW real estate history: it’s Texas’s first master-planned community. And while it’s evolved significantly since its founding, the core appeal hasn’t changed — it’s a tight-knit, family-friendly town with golf-course views, excellent schools, and a lifestyle that feels a world apart from the metroplex.

The Community

With a population of about 13,000, Trophy Club is intentionally small. That’s the point. Centered around the Trophy Club Country Club and its two golf courses, the town has a neighborhood feel that larger suburbs can’t replicate. Residents know their neighbors, kids ride bikes to the park, and community events actually bring people together.

The recent development of Trophy Club Town Center has added a walkable retail and dining hub, finally giving residents a local gathering spot without the drive to Southlake or Roanoke.

Housing Market

Because Trophy Club is essentially built out, the market is dominated by resale homes and renovations rather than new construction. Home styles span three decades of development — from 1980s traditional brick homes along the golf course to newer luxury builds in neighborhoods like The Highlands.

Prices typically range from the mid-$300Ks for smaller properties to $900K+ for renovated golf-course estates. The current trend is a "renovation renaissance" where buyers are updating classic homes with modern finishes, open floor plans, and updated kitchens while keeping the mature landscaping and golf-course lots that make Trophy Club unique.

Schools

Trophy Club is served by Northwest ISD, and its anchor campus is Byron Nelson High School. Named after the legendary golfer (fitting for a golf-course community), Byron Nelson is known for strong academics and specialized programs including Biomedical Sciences and Culinary Arts academies. Feeder campuses include Lakeview Elementary and Medlin Middle School, all highly rated.

Location

Sitting just off Highway 114, Trophy Club is minutes from Westlake’s corporate corridor where Charles Schwab, Fidelity, and Deloitte have major campuses. DFW Airport is about 15 minutes east. This makes it a favorite among executives who want a premium neighborhood without a long commute.
